A Sacramento-area business that announced the purchase of a longtime Fresno family business earlier this year is growing once again.

WiZiX Technology Group, Inc. this week announced the acquisition of Carbon Copy, Inc. based in Placerville, marking the eighth acquisition to kick off the eighth year of operation for the Roseville business.

In August, WiZix announced the acquisition of California Business Machines, Inc., a Fresno office equipment company founded in 1953. Gary Johnson, president and CEO of WiZiX Technology Group, said at the time that his family had deep roots in Fresno, where he started his career 40 years ago.

Johnson had a long career in the industry with companies including Wolco Business Systems, Zoom Imaging Solutions and Xerox’s Global Imaging Systems. In fact, those names put together — WiZiX — made up the name of the new company he founded in 2017, according to a profile in enxmag.com.

Carbon Copy — the latest acquisition — was founded in 1990 by Mark Scott, who is set to retire.

We are thrilled to welcome Carbon Copy into the WiZiX family,” Johnson said. “Their long-standing reputation for excellent service and customer care aligns perfectly with our mission of providing top-tier office technology solutions. Mark and his team have created a very strong connection with their customers. As with WiZiX, Mark believes in being a part of the community in which you do business and giving back whenever possible. Together, we will continue to serve businesses across Northern California with the same dedication to both service and community that has driven both companies.”

Eric McIntosh, senior vice president of WiZiX, added, “We are incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to carry forward the legacy that Mark and Janis Scott have built over the past 34 years.”

The seven prior acquisitions of WiZiX include Stanton Office Machines of Fresno, Scott Technology Group of Sacramento, Complete Business Systems of Livermore, Edward Office Systems of Sacramento, Intelligent Copier Solutions of Rohnert Park, Toshiba America Business Solutions, Inc of Reno, and California Business Machines.
