The Walmart Supercenter at 7065 N. Ingram Ave. in Fresno celebrated the completion of its renovation and improvement project Friday, introducing several new features to the familiar superstore.
In addition to renovations, the Supercenter also introduced a new mural reflecting the local cultural diversity, as part of Walmart’s Community Mural Program.
The artist was Stephanie Mercado of Los Angeles.
The celebration included donations to four local nonprofits, contributing $5,500 in grants to the Fresno Police Department, Bridge to College, Angels of Grace and Valley Children’s Hospital.
The renovation process took 18 weeks.
“We have improved the sales floor, some areas of the store as well, modernized the outside of the building and also the signage inside the store,” said store Manager Servio Magan.
Some of the new features include a new mothers’ room, accessible self-checkout stations, a modernized look to the interior and exterior and new signage inside and outside the store, Magan said.
During the remodel, the store remained open with different departments being partly closed and accessible to customers starting at 7 a.m.
“The only area that we couldn’t [keep open] was the vision center, because it was completely remodeled,” Magan said.
The Supercenter transformations are part of Walmart’s Signature Experience, which looks to incorporate several new customer-experience elements including “activated corner” displays featuring products in various locations. Transformed stores will also feature more displays, more space and digital “touchpoints” informing customers of the range of products and services Walmart offers through QR codes and digital screens.
