Following a nationwide search, officials at Saint Agnes Medical Center announced Tuesday that Gurvinder Kaur, MD, has been hired as president and market leader.

Kaur comes to Saint Agnes from Adventist Health Central Valley Network, where she served as the chief medical officer and vice president. Prior to that, Kaur served as the senior regional director of Vituity, which saw her oversee hospitalists, post-acute care practices and emergency department practices.

Kaur also served on the board of directors for Vituity, providing strategy, governance and oversight of the organization’s culture.

“Because of her background in Internal Medicine, her tenure at Vituity, a national Physician group, and leadership position at Adventist, Dr. Kaur has a deep understanding of health care operations, physician practice dynamics and an understanding of strategic knowledge of the emerging trends in navigating the complex landscape of the provider side of the health care industry,” said Odette Bolano, president and CEO Trinity Health West Region.

Trinity Health is the nonprofit, Catholic-affiliated parent company of Saint Agnes. It operates more than 100 hospitals in 27 states. Trinity Health is based in Michigan.

At Adventist, Kaur played a key role in the expansion of patient services following the pandemic, overseeing growth in multiple practices.

Kaur moved to Los Angeles from India in 2004, studying at the University of Southern California. She completed her medical residency at Los Angeles General Medical Center. She also holds a master’s degree in health administration from USC.

Kaur is replacing Interim President and CEO David Spivey, who has filled the role since the retirement of President and CEO Nancy Hollingsworth, who retired in May 2023 after holding the position for nearly 13 years.

Kaur will assume her new position on Monday, Jan. 22 and will relocate to the Valley with her family to be closer to the team at Saint Agnes.
