Sierra Pacific Orthopedics is welcoming a new member to its surgical team as it prepares to expand its urgent care services.

Dr. Anirudh Sharma will join Sierra Pacific Orthopedics upon the opening of its Clovis Campus Orthopedic Urgent Care clinic on Jan. 15 at 2151 Herndon Ave., Suite 105. Sharma will manage the urgent care center, which will see patients without appointment for urgent orthopedic needs in bone, joint and muscle care.

Sharma has training in both family medicine and orthopedic surgery and previously served as the curriculum lead and course director of point-of-care ultrasound and urgent care training at UCSF Fresno.

“We are so proud to grow our team and services as the orthopedic needs of our community continue to grow,” said Sierra Pacific Orthopedics Practice President Dr. Francis Glaser. “Dr. Sharma is an exceptional doctor and leader, and we are excited to have him head our new Clovis Campus Orthopedic Urgent Care and ensure our patients get the right care, right away.”

Sharma earned his medical degree at Government Medical College in Patiala, Punjab, India. He also completed his medical internship there before training at Dayanand Medical College & Hospital in Ludhiana, Punjab, India.

Following his education in India, Sharma went to Canada to complete a family medicine residency at the University of Manitoba Max Rady College of Medicine in Winnipeg before completing additional training in orthopedic trauma.

The new orthopedic urgent care center will treat injuries ranging from swollen joints, possible broken bones, sports injuries and possible concussions.

Sierra Pacific Orthopedics operates a similar orthopedic urgent care center at its Herndon campus in Fresno. The addition of a Clovis urgent care center will ease the burden felt not only by Sierra Pacific Orthopedics, but by nearby emergency departments and walk-in clinics, according to a news release.

Sierra Pacific Orthopedics serves as the official orthopedic surgery center for the athletic departments at Fresno State, Fresno City College and Fresno Pacific University. More information can be found at www.spoc-ortho.com.
