After a nationwide search, the Clovis City Council announced the selection of Andrew Haussler as the next city manager.

Haussler has more than 18 years of experience working for the city and currently serves as assistant city manager.

He previously served as community and economic development director, deputy city manager, community development grants coordinator and housing program manager.

Prior to working for Clovis, Haussler worked for the global electricity generation leader AES, as well as the County of Fresno.

Originally from the Sacramento area, Haussler has lived in Clovis for about 17 years.

Haussler will succeed City Manager John Holt, who is retiring at the end of the year after 25 years with Clovis. Holt has been city manager since 2021.

Haussler said he feels honored to lead Clovis as city manager and looks forward to working with city council, staff, Clovis businesses and residents to meet the city’s goal.

“I am humbled to lead Clovis in this role. It’s a very high honor and I take it very seriously. I am grateful to the city council for the confidence in me, and grateful for John Holt for all the mentoring he’s done and what he’s offered to our community and how he has impacted Clovis for many years,” Haussler said.

The appointment is expected to be made official at the Dec. 16 city council meeting and will become effective on New Year’s Day.

Holt said Haussler made his job much easier during his tenure, praising his dedication and passion for Clovis.

“I have no doubt that he will continue to serve our community with the same commitment and excellence that have defined his career. Thank you, Andy, and good luck in your next chapter leading the City of Clovis,” Holt said.

Haussler said he is excited for upcoming projects for Clovis, including a new automotive showroom complex just south of Herndon Avenue on Clovis Avenue from CJ Wilson, owner of the Audi, Porsche and BMW dealerships in Fresno.

There’s also the new Vallarta Supermarket that opened last month at Shaw and Villa avenues.

Haussler said there has been an uptick in interest from businesses large and small to locate to Fresno’s neighbor to the east.

“Business really value and want to be part of Clovis,” Haussler said.

Homebuilders too. The Heritage Grove Master Plan area is fulfilling a high demand for housing, and companies including Lennar and De Young Properties are answering the call. There is anticipation of what kind of businesses that will locate there near Clovis and Shepherd avenues.

He said there are several home developments proposed for Clovis, with interest from various builders.
