The Central California Women’s Conference announced Friday changes to its board of directors and conference planning team.

The annual event is one of the biggest of its kind, with more than 3,500 attendees expected when it returns with an in-person format September 2022.

Nené Casares, CCWC board president since 2005, has retired from the board. The board welcomed Danielle Parnagian as a member-at-large. Returning board members are Tracy Kiritani, now both vice president and secretary; Tricia Holt, treasurer; and Victoria Bernhardt, legal counsel.

Joining as the new conference director is Sonya Nagai-Menapace, and the new development director is Karen Franz. Nagai-Menapace began her career as a CCWC intern and has facilitated the conference in a variety of capacities since 2006. She has extensive event, marketing, and branding experience. Franz joins CCWC after a more than 34-year career with Cumulus Media, including 22 years as general sales manager, managing KSKS Country, Y101, Mega 97.9, and working in various capacities with KMJ. She has served on numerous boards including American Heart Association for the Central Valley, Fresno United Neighborhoods (FUN), and the Fresno Advertising Foundation.

Nagai-Menapace and Franz take over for Mary Stabelfeld, conference director; Jan Edwards, development and marketing director; and Betsy Hays, public relations and speaker coordinator — all of whom are retiring from CCWC.

Stabelfeld has been part of the conference since its inception in 1988 and took the helm as conference director in 2006. Edwards has been with CCWC since 2006 after serving on the board from 2001-2005, and Hays started working with the conference in 2012.

“CCWC is so grateful for the wonderful work of Nené, Mary, Jan, and Betsy,” said Teri Amerine, former CCWC treasurer and the new CCWC board president. “And we look forward to working with our new team as we lead CCWC into its next chapter.”
