Another 2000s rap superstar will take the stage at Chukchansi Park this spring at Tequila Fest.
The Fresno Grizzlies announced Wednesday morning that the multi-platinum artist Nelly will headline this year’s event — the fourth annual — on May 2.
The annual festival, which received national attention after being named Minor League Baseball’s Best Non-Gameday Event in 2023, brings together live music with tequila tastings, food vendors and local businesses.
“With a headliner as iconic as Nelly, we believe this year’s entertainment is second-to-none,” said Derek Franks, president of the Grizzlies. “Nelly’s energy, catalog, and crossover appeal make him a perfect fit for Tequila Fest. Having a global superstar take the stage on May 2 elevates this event to a whole new level and further cements Tequila Fest as one of the premier annual concerts in the Central Valley.”
Last year’s event was headlined by Ludacris, who appeared in a “Verzuz” event against Nelly in 2020.
Nelly rose to stardom with his 2000 debut album, “Country Grammar” and has since sold millions of records.
His most well-known songs include, “Hot in Herre,” “Ride wit Me” and “Dilemma,” along with collaboration projects that expanded his reach beyond hip-hop.
In addition to rap, Nelly has also appeared in movies, most notably starring in “The Longest Yard” alongside Adam Sandler.
Tequila Fest will feature the Tequila Tastery, Vendor Village and food trucks from Fresno Street Eats. Tickets are on sale at TequilaFestFresno.com and the Chukchansi Park ticket office.
