The Mountain West Conference released its 2025 football schedule Thursday, with Fresno State joining fellow conference rival Hawaii Warriors as the only two Mountain West schools with a Week 0 game on the schedule.

The Bulldogs’ schedule includes six home games, three rivalry matchups and the potential for nationally televised appearances on both CBS Sports and FOX Sports.

The 2025 schedule will kick off on Aug. 23 when the Bulldogs travel to Kansas, facing off against the Jayhawks in a Week 0 contest. Fresno State will be one of eight teams scheduled to play Week 0 contests in the U.S.

Some highlights of the Bulldogs’ upcoming season include back-to-back rivalry games against San Diego State and Boise State on Oct. 25 and Nov. 1. The Bulldogs hope to retain the “Old Oil Can” trophy against their Southern California rival Aztecs and the “Milk Can Trophy” from Boise State. Fresno State didn’t play either team in 2024 but played both in 2023, beating Boise State 37-30 at home and losing 33-18 in San Diego.

The Bulldogs will close out the regular season against the San Jose State Spartans, battling for the Valley Trophy on Nov. 29 in San Jose. The Bulldogs retained the Valley Trophy in 2024 after defeating the Spartans 33-10.

The Bulldogs will be under the leadership of new head coach Matt Entz. Entz was named head coach in December after former coach Jeff Tedford stepped down due to health concerns.

Last year, Fresno State finished the season with a 6-7 record (4-3, conference), ending the year on a two-game losing streak with a loss against the Northern Illinois Huskies 28-20 in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

The schedule reveal marks phase one of the 2025 football schedule rollout. Phase two will reveal Mountain West nationally televised partners, including potential Friday game shifts. Following that announcement, network outlets and kickoff times will be announced.

It will be the last season in the Mountain West for Fresno State and three other conference teams as they depart for the Pac-12 in 2026
