For the first time, Fresno County is offering a naming rights sponsorship opportunity through a bidding process for two libraries in the construction pipeline.
County officials are seeking major sponsors for the libraries in Clovis and Reedley, made possible after a Jan. 28 vote by the Board of Supervisors approving new procedures for informal bidding for naming rights for certain county buildings.
The major sponsor of each new library will have the ability to name the exterior of the library after themselves, their business, family, organization or someone they wish to honor.
“The financial support from a major sponsor will have a lasting positive impact on the Fresno County community,” according to a Fresno County news release. “It will help the County’s library system make the most of Measure B tax dollars for library facilities and operations. This support will help maintain current services and ensure continued access to resources for the community.”
The new Clovis library will be the largest branch of the Fresno County Public Library system at more than 26,000 square feet. It will be located near the new senior center and transit center near Third Street and Veterans Parkway.
The Reedley library will be 13,994 square feet, situated along the Reedley Rail-Trail to promote accessibility.
In October 2024, Fresno County Supervisors awarded a $37.45 million contract to Harris Construction to build the libraries.
The minimum bid amount will be at least 10% of the County’s total estimated project cost.
