After the news that Trinity Health was backing out of an acquisition that began earlier this year, Madera Community Hospital announced last week that it would be filing for bankruptcy Jan. 3, 2023.

As a result, the hospital has started moving up its closure dates of various departments including the emergency room, which closes Friday.

All labor and delivery services at Madera Community stopped Wednesday.

The Rural Health Clinics operated by the hospital will be closed effective Jan. 10 and all remaining patients at the hospital will be transferred to other facilities by Jan. 17.

All other services will close effective Jan. 3, including surgery, outpatient radiology and lab.

The hospital will officially close on Jan. 10 at 7 a.m.

A special meeting of the Madera County Board of Supervisors is scheduled for 10 a.m. today to discuss impacts of the hospital closure.
