Partyworks party supply store will host signings with Dave Sheridan, known for his role as Special Officer Doofy from “Scary Movie,” and Felissa Rose, who played Angela from “Sleepaway Camp,” on Oct. 5-6 at all four of Valley locations.

This is the second time the locally-owned company will be hosting this type of event after its separation from the Party City franchise in August 2023. The current times announced for this event are as follows:

• Saturday, October 5th:
  • 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at 534 Shaw Ave., Clovis
  • 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. at 7374 N. Blackstone Ave., Fresno
  •  

• Sunday, October 6th: 
  • 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at 4320 W. Shaw Ave., Fresno
  • 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. at 1917 W. Caldwell Ave., Visalia
  •  

Owner Robert Fox is happy to bring back these events, saying it’s just one of his ways of “returning to our roots.” 

Originally started in 1985, Fox took ownership of Partyworks around 1994-1995 after working there for about five years. The company would grow and increase its number of locations under this name until 2008. 

Fox would go on to join the Party City franchise. After around a 17-year partnership, Fox decided to separate from the Party City due to an internal reorganization with bankruptcy of the franchise. 

“I felt like their pricing was too high. So I started implementing right away lower pricing to get people in the door that way,” Fox said.

So in August 2023, the Partyworks name returned to four locations around Fresno, Clovis and Visalia.

Rose is an American actress and producer with over 100 film credits in total. Her major film credits include the lead role in Robert Hiltzik’s cult classic Sleepaway Camp, The Perfect House, Zombie Night, Death House, Silent Night, Victor Crowley and Camp Dread. 

She landed the iconic role of transvestite murderer Angela in the cult classic Sleepaway Camp in 1983 when she was just 13 years old. She later attended New York University’s Tisch School of Arts followed by The Lee Strasberg institute where she began her formal training to become a serious actress. 

Sheridan is an American actor, producer and writer. He played Special Officer Doofy in the comedy “Scary Movie” (2000), a spoof of deputy sheriff Dewey Riley from Scream. To this day, Sheridan continues to wear the Officer Doofy costume and poses with fans for photos at pop culture conventions. Since then, Dave has starred in a number of films produced by the Wayans Brothers, including “Little Man,” “50 Shades of Black” and both “A Haunted House” films.
