A donation and ceremony from a local jeweler commemorated healers at Saint Agnes Medical Center in Fresno Tuesday.
James Orloff of Orloff Jewelers presented three pendants of St. Raphael to health care workers at the Fresno hospital..
The pendants of the archangel went to Josephine Longoria, chaplain and manager of spiritual care; Dr. Oscar Young, OB; and Tina Lujano, director of the intensive care unit.
The pendants were valued at $90 each.
St. Raphael is referred to as the Angel of Healing. According to Catholic tradition, St. Raphael works to cure people’s minds, souls and bodies and Orloff thought it fitting on the hospital’s Day of Healing.
Orloff had approached staff at the hospital about donating the pendants.
