A local engineering firm has announced the transition of one of its longtime founders and leaders.
Michael D. Knopf, chairman of the board for Clovis civil engineering firm QK, is transitioning to chairman emeritus after serving for 15 years. QK was formerly known as Quad Knopf prior to a 2016 corporate rebrand.
On May 16, the City of Fresno honored Knopf with the official proclamation of “Michael D. Knopf Day,” presented by Council Vice President Annalisa Perea.
The day was dedicated to honor Knopf’s significant commitment to the Fresno community.
In 1976, Knopf formed Canvasser and Knopf as an engineering and land surveying firm.
Knopf has been a central figure to QK since 1998, when his firm Knopf Engineering merged with Quad Consultants.
From 2007-2011, QK weathered the Great Recession by making changes to project management, technical leadership and strategic plan implementation, according to a news release.
With over 40 years of experience as a civil engineer, land surveyor and business owner, including 24 years with the firm now known as QK, Knopf’s leadership was instrumental in the growth and development of QK.
In his position as chairman emeritus, Knopf will continue to influence QK’s strategic direction, advising CEO Ron Wathen, CFO Amber Aguayo and the QK Board.
“We are grateful for Mike’s unyielding dedication and exceptional leadership. As Chairman Emeritus, we are thrilled that he will continue to provide his wisdom and mentorship to the QK team,” Wathen said.
