China Peak Ski Resort east of Huntington Lake has temporarily shut down while officials there await more snow and colder weather.
The closure was announced this morning following what has been a light winter so far in terms of snow in the Sierras.
The resort’s website lists no snowfall there in the last seven days and only 4-6 inches during the whole season so far.
“The weather forecast is showing signs of a change in the next few weeks, and we will reopen the very day we get enough snow or see cold temperatures for an extended period to make snow on the upper slopes,” states a message posted on China Peak’s website.
