A California law firm is offering free Uber rides to help reduce impaired driving on New Year’s Eve .

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, alcohol impaired driving makes up 37% of the traffic deaths during the holiday period. NHTSA found that New Year’s Eve continues to be one of the deadliest nights of the year.

The National Safety Council projects over 500 traffic fatalities nationwide during major holiday travel periods.

To help address the risk that New Year’s celebrations bring, Beverly Hills-based Setareh Law is offering up to 300 free Uber rides across California counties that include Fresno, Madera and several more across the state.

Setareh Law, a personal injury law firm, has an office in Fresno at 4005 N. Blackstone Ave., #101A.

The vouchers — which must be obtained online — are available to users 21 and older with an active Uber account and may be used from 5 p.m. Dec. 31 through 10 a.m. Jan. 1.

The voucher covers a one-way ride up to $20.

Founder Daniel Setareh said the initiative is intended to help prevent tragedies before they happen by giving people a safe way to get home.

“New Year’s Eve is a time for celebration, not tragedy,” Setareh said. “After fighting for justice for families who have been forever impacted by impaired drivers, we want to do our part to help prevent these accidents before they happen. If one free ride will keep someone safe, then this effort is worth every bit of it.”
