A new streaming app meant to help local residents stay up-to-date on news and happenings in the Central Valley is coming to smart television consoles.

The streaming app, the brainchild of Nexstar Media Inc., will launch as KSEE24 CBS47+ on March 31, featuring free, 24/7 streaming services featuring everything local, on demand.

Viewers will be able to tune into their favorite KSEE24 and CBS47 newscasts, including live local sports, talk shows, engaging content, and new content including engaging business content with Lance Cardoza, inside sports topics with Fresno State and the Fresno Grizzlies and more, according to a news release.

“This app is a game-change for the Central Valley,” said KSEE24, CBS47 Vice President and General Manager Matt Morse. “For the first time, our viewers will have instant access to the best local news, weather, sports and entertainment — right on their TV.”

Morse added that by the end of the year, every Nexstar-affiliated station will have their individual streaming app on smart TVs, aiming at tightening up local coverage and featuring region-driven content for viewers.

“We have an amazing opportunity to be one of the inaugural shows on their new streaming platform,” said Jonathan Bravo, Fresno Grizzlies’ director of marketing and communications. “We’re just really excited to reach a lot of our fans on the brand new platform.”

In addition to streaming existing programming and news, the app will also feature new partnerships, including partnerships with Fresno State’s Mass Communications and Journalism (MCJ) department and other local organizations.
