Kaiser Permanente Fresno announced this week that Tyler Hedden has been named senior vice president and area manager of Kaiser Permanente Fresno.

Hedden brings more than 25 years of experience to the position, which oversees hospital operations and the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan for the Fresno area and its nearly 155,000 members.

He replaces Wade Nogy, who has held the position since 2018.

“This is an exciting opportunity to continue Kaiser Permanente’s commitment to providing our members, patients, and the communities we serve with high-quality and exceptional care,” Hedden said. “Kaiser Permanente Fresno has been in the community for more than 30 years and I’m looking forward to building on its legacy of care as we continue to grow and provide more health care services to those who need it most.”

Hedden began his career as a nurse assistant before working his way through the ranks into senior leadership positions at hospitals in Oregon, California and Missouri. Hedden previously served as chief operating officer at PeaceHealth in Oregon.

Hedden also worked as senior vice president and chief executive at Providence St. Joseph Health in Sonoma County. During his time there he oversaw an $80 million, 90,000-square-foot medical office building and cardiac catheterization lab redesign.

Kaiser Permanente Fresno broke ground on a 146,000-square-foot medical center in December 2023.

“Tyler is a dynamic leader who has a drive for clinical excellence and a commitment to improve overall community health,” said Carrie Owen Plietz, FACHE, president of Kaiser Permanente’s Northern California region. “He is a highly-skilled executive who will provide the direction needed as Kaiser Permanente Fresno continues to expand in the Valley.”

Hedden received his Bachelor of Arts degrees in biology and chemistry from Drury University in Missouri. He received a Master of Health care Administration degree from Washington University School of Medicine in Missouri.
