Grocery Outlet will open its newest Fresno location on Thursday, July 17, with a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m.
Formerly home to a Rite Aid, the 17,272 square-foot store at 2990 E. Nees Ave. near Willow Avenue will celebrate the grand opening with a $1,000 donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central California and the Buchanan High School Foundation.
Starting at 7 a.m., the store will also reward the first 100 customers in the door with “Bliss Bucks,” gift cards ranging from $5 to $500. Customers can also enter to win $1,000 in free groceries from July 17 to Aug. 15.
Based in Emeryville, Grocery Outlet currently has four locations in Fresno and more than 540 stores throughout California and 15 other states.
The former Rite Aid closed in 2023 and was acquired by Grocery Outlet in April 2024.
The Grocery Outlet will be independently owned and operated by Luis and Cristina Ramirez.
Each store is owned by independent operators responsible for store operations, including ordering, marketing, training and hiring. They contribute capital to establish their business and share store-level gross profits with Grocery Outlet.
Grocery Outlet welcomed 49 new independent operators in 2024, according to its most recent impact report, for a total of 481, with a small group of independent operators operating multiple stores.
