October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Community Regional Medical Center is partnering with Texas-based educational professionals Medical Inflatables to bring local residents and professionals “Go Pink Day,” featuring an up-scaled giant inflatable breast to help educate the community about breast cancer.
In 2022, an estimated 287,850 cases of breast cancer were diagnosed in women nationwide, with the disease affecting over 2 million women globally, resulting in an estimated 670,000 deaths worldwide according to State Cancer Profiles, which pools data from the National Cancer Institute and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to present its data.
The American Cancer Society projects more than 300,000 cases in 2024, with more than 42,000 of those predicted to be fatal.
Approximately one in eight women in the U.S. will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.
Wednesday’s presentations — which will take place at Clovis Community Medical Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and at Community Regional Medical Center from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., aim to educate the public about early detection, outcomes and more.
Guests will be able to walk through the inflatable, interactive exhibit, and will also be able to receive educational resources at the event.
Go Pink Day will kick off at Clovis Community Medical Center, located at 2755 Herndon Ave., in Clovis, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will continue at Community Regional Medical Center’s North Medical Plaza, located at 215 N. Fresno St., #490.
