Buckman-Mitchell, Inc. – one of the oldest insurance agencies in the Central Valley – has been acquired by a global firm.

Founded in 1916, Buckman-Mitchell has offices in Visalia and Fresno. It specializes in providing insurance to the agricultural industry.

The terms of the deal with Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. were not disclosed.

Clifford Dunbar, Judy Fussel, Brent Swanson, Todd Williams, Stephan Chrisman, Linda Loflin and their associates will continue to operate from their current locations under the direction of Jim Buckley, head of Gallagher’s Northwest region retail P/C brokerage operations, and Norbert Chung, head of Gallagher’s Western region employee benefits consulting and brokerage operations.

Illinois-based Arthur J. Gallagher was founded in Chicago in 1927, and today the insurance, risk management and consulting firm has offices in 42 states and 34 countries.

The company has been on a growth spree, completing nearly 300 acquisitions from 2010 to 2016.
