After nearly a decade of vacancy, Costco and Kohl’s officially have new neighbors in North Fresno — and their furniture is something to raise a glass to.

Southern California-based furniture store Living Spaces opens its doors at 7354 N. Abby St. near River park  this evening at 5 p.m., celebrating the occasion with a ribbon-cutting presentation by the Fresno Chamber of Commerce.

The property, previously home to Boomers! amusement park, had sat vacant since the family entertainment center closed its doors in 2017; known as Camelot Park until 1999, the center had been open since 1997, and was demolished in September 2017 before sitting vacant for nearly eight years before construction began on Living Spaces in 2023.

Living Spaces, which will operate 42 locations after the Fresno grand opening, offers everything from furniture to mattresses and home decor, and will feature 105,000 square-feet of retail space. The store will also include a café offering low-price snack options including chips and salsa, pre-packaged entrées including chicken strips and pizza, as well as drinks including free coffee and soda. The most expensive items are $3.

Many Living Spaces cafés also serve beer and wine; the Fresno location has not added alcohol options to its online menu yet, however, a liquor license processed by Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) earlier this month signals a likely menu update.

The café will also serve specialty drinks including IBC Root Beer, Mexican Coca-Cola and Boylan Bottling Co. creme and black cherry sodas.

The site will also feature a Kid’s Fun Room — a safe, fun play area for children to enjoy while their parents shop.

After the opening of its 42nd location, Living Spaces will operate a total of 21 stores in California, as well as stores in Texas, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Nevada and Oklahoma.

Living Spaces Fresno will be open this evening from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. While the Fresno store’s regular hours are not yet posted, other Living Spaces locations are open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The store’s website lists the official opening date as Friday.
