Just days after news broke that it would be closing its doors for good after this weekend, Playland officials announced Thursday that it will continue to operate the amusement park for at least another six months.
Operator Helm and Sons struck a deal with the Playland board.
Current operators Helm and Sons will continue to run the park for another six months while introducing a number of new promotions, according to Park Manager Candace Cuisinier.
Kiss Country morning show hosts Joe Castelan and Kris Daniels spoke with Cuisinier, who shared the news in a video posted to 93.7 Kiss Country’s Facebook Page.
“The great news is that Helm & Sons has partnered with the Storyland Board of Directors and they have come to an agreement: we are going to keep the park open,” she said.
In addition to the news, Cuisinier said the park will be open additional days and hours and will offer new specials for park visitors. Playland will also host field trips every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Additionally, passes will be available for $25 per month, granting unlimited access to the park.
On Jan. 18, Playland’s hours will extend, with the park operating on Thursdays and Fridays from noon to 8 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., according to a report by ABC30.
“We’re really excited to be able to keep this treasure alive with the help of the community and the support of everyone,” Candace said. “And we get to save jobs for the Fresno community as well.”
