Cannabis enthusiasts will have a new spot to cure the munchies with the grand opening of Cheba Hut, a cannabis-themed restaurant and bar.
The restaurant, located at 3050 Shaw Ave. near Edo-Ya Tokyo Cuisine, will open its doors on Monday, Oct. 16. News of the restaurant’s plans in Fresno were reported earlier this year.
“We are stoked to bring the Hut to Fresno, CA,” co-owner Tyler McNabb said in a press release. “We are aiming to be tightly knit with the community and really become the local destination for curing cottonmouth and the munchies.”
In addition to being a Cheba Hut franchisee, McNabb is also a vice president of Fresno’s Roos & McNabb CPAs firm.

Founded in 1998, Cheba Hut is a “toasted” sub concept that offers more than 30 signature sandwiches and salads, as well as their “munchies” menu which includes Rice Krispy treats, nachos, soups and more.
Cannabis is only a theme for the franchise with more than 40 locations across the U.S. No marijuana is used in any of the food.
Cheba Hut is known for offering selections of local craft beer and spirits for guests 21 and up, and also offers a variety of their own in-house cocktails.
The store will also aim to capture the visuals of the local scene in their aesthetic design, featuring Yosemite National Park and the phrase “Blaze a Trail” in the restaurant’s wall mural.
McNabb, along with co-owner and general manager Racelis Cardenas, aims to showcase Cheba Hut’s core values — “the hustle, show respect, own it, pay it forward, keep it real” — in their Fresno franchise location.
“We feel that, with this being the first location in Fresno, it’s important we have those authentic Cheba vibes,” the duo stated in a press release. “We think the best way to do this is by Keeping it Real and making the work culture something that the crew is excited to be a part of.”
Cheba Hut has aimed to make a unique footprint in the restaurant industry, becoming the first marijuana-themed sandwich “joint.” Fresno’s Cheba Hut location will offer online ordering through its website, and can be found on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
