The Community Media Awareness Collaborative (CMAC) was honored for its local work at the 2024 Hometown Media Awards earlier this year, recognizing the organization for empowering individuals and communities to create local content highlighting the work done in their regions.
The collective was awarded the Hometown Media Award for Overall Excellence in Public, Education, and Government Access by the Alliance for Community Media (ACM) Foundation, recognizing CMAC’s efforts to provide a platform and resources for community media engagement.
“We are incredibly proud to receive this recognition,” said Johnny Pecina, community media manager at CMAC. “This award underscores the vital role that CMAC plays in supporting our community’s voice by providing access to media production tools, education, and resources.”
The award, which was presented in June at this year’s Conference for the Alliance for Community Media in San Jose, was one of many awards given out to organizations from across the country.
CMAC continues to commit to expanding media literacy, education and outreach, making it a key player in local media.
