Fresno Mexican restaurant Casa Corona plans to give away 80 free meals Monday to thank the community for naming it the Best Mexican Restaurant as part of the 2016 People’s Choice Awards.

It’s the fourth year in a row that the restaurant, which has two locations in Fresno, has won the award via an online survey by the Fresno Bee’s Custom Publications Department.

The locations at 7044 N. Cedar Ave. and 1724 W. Bullard Ave. will each give away 40 meals starting at 4 p.m. Monday on a first come, first served basis. The free meals are for eat-in only and alcohol is excluded.

Those who are not able to be among the lucky first 40 at each restaurant will receive $4 off any menu item for the reminder of the night.

Casa Corona’s prides itself on creating a welcoming environment for customers, according to an interview in the Bee’s 2016 People’s Choice publication.

“Our customers tell us they not only love the food and the people, but the atmosphere as well,” said Elsa Rodriguez Killion, one of the three siblings who run the restaurants. “It’s like coming back to a very familiar place, a second home.”
