The Fresno Superior Court announced Tuesday morning a proposal to temporarily consolidate cases and essential hearings to just the Main Courthouse and the Juvenile Justice Courthouse during select holiday dates.

The court cited statewide budget constraints and a reduced caseload.

Under the proposal, only the Main Courthouse at 1100 Van Ness Ave. and the Juvenile Justice Courthouse at 3333 E. American Ave. will remain open on Nov. 24-26, Dec. 22-24 and Dec. 26, Jan. 2 and Feb. 13, 2026.

Other local courthouses — including the Jail Annex at 1265 “M” St., the Archives Department at 1963 “E” St., the B.F. Sisk Courthouse at 1130 “O” St. (Civil/Family/Self-Help Center) and the “M” Street Courthouse at 2317 Tuolumne St. (Traffic) — will be closed.

Clerk’s Offices will also be consolidated into the two open courthouses, ensuring that essential court services remain available, according to a news release.

The court says the move will better utilize staff resources during the holidays. A public comment period runs from June 2 to Aug. 1, 2025. After that, the court will review comments and consider any needed adjustments.
