Friday morning, Fresno State Athletic Director Terry Tumey announced that football head coach Jeff Tedford is immediately stepping down due to personal health concerns.

Assistant head coach and linebackers coach, Tim Skipper, will serve as acting head coach through an upcoming bowl game, which will be determined on Sunday.

Fresno State finished the regular season 8-4. The team kicked off the beginning of football season with a winning streak, but saw a turnaround at the end of its Mountain West league play.

It is unclear if Tedford will return as head coach.

“The entire Fresno State community sends its thoughts and prayers to Coach Tedford and wish him a speedy recovery,” said Tumey.

Multiple athletes just announced this week that they have entered the transfer portal, including quarterback Logan Fife, kicker Abraham Montaño and Fresno native Taner Blount.
