Fresno’s Sticky Rice on Wheels announced on social media Friday it would no longer participate in River Park food truck events after being told Asian food is no longer welcome following complaints from “restaurants on site.”

There are several Asian-themed restaurants at River Park. Three of them are owned by Jason Lin’s Lin Restaurant Group — J Pot, O-Iza sushi and Spicy J’s Chinese food.

Sticky Rice on Wheels has served authentic Lao food for five years.

Lin’s Restaurant Group shared on social media over the weekend that they had no involvement in the decision to ban all Asian food from events. They said they were unaware of any such “ban,” and have never raised concerns about food vendors in the area.

“As an Asian-owned business, we are proud to support the broader Asian community and stand with all local businesses working hard to share their food, culture, and passion with Fresno,” according to Lin’s Restaurant Group statement.

A message left with a representative from River Park was not returned Monday morning.

April 12 was the last day that Sticky Rice on Wheels said it would operate at River Park. Food truck events are held there Tuesdays and Saturdays.
