Clovis-based radio station KVPR FM 89.3, in partnership with National Public Radio program “1A,” will host a live community forum focusing on the future of technology jobs in cities like Fresno following the collapse of Bitwise Industries. The event will take place Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Old Administration Building Auditorium at Fresno City College.
The event will be moderated by “1A” host Jenn White and is part of the program’s Remaking America initiative, which has the show visiting six NPR stations nationwide, including KVPR. The event will be recorded for later use in a nationwide broadcast of “1A.”
“We’re excited to partner with 1A to host this community conversation about one of the biggest local news stories of the year,” said KVPR President and General Manager, Joe Moore. “While much of the coverage of the Bitwise Industries story has been about the company’s spectacular collapse, we hope to explore the bigger question of the future of technology jobs in ‘underdog cities’ like Fresno and beyond.”
The public is invited to attend this free community event. Registration is encouraged to receive updates, but not required.
Panelists currently scheduled to appear include Will Dyck, Fresno real estate developer and former Bitwise board member. He continues to operate the buildings Bitwise left behind in Downtown Fresno.
Carole Goldsmith, chancellor of State Center Community College District, will also participate.
Other panelists will be announced. To register, visit the KVPR website.
