A Bay Area pizza chain looks to expand in 2025, opening new locations across the country — including an addition to their Central Valley footprint.

The new store will take the place of a local Mexican restaurant that is closing one of its locations.

Founded in 2015 by Tejinder Singh in Dublin, California, Tandoori Pizza serves a fusion of Indian and Italian flavors, adding another option to the Valley’s wide selection of locally owned pizza establishments.

Last year, Tandoori Pizza opened its first Central Valley location, a restaurant in the “Punjab Plaza” shopping area near Shaw and Dewitt avenues in Clovis, just west of Clovis Avenue.

The restaurant added another dining option near the newly rejuvenated corner of Clovis and Shaw avenues after the relocation of the Clovis Costco in 2019.

Tandoori Pizza’s franchise footprint has grown, with 18 locations in California, Pennsylvania and New York, according to the website. There are also stores in Turlock, Tracy, Dublin and Rancho Cucamonga.

Tandoori Pizza founder Singh hopes the opening of a second franchise in the Fresno-Clovis area — near Shaw and Brawley avenues — will continue to raise the profile of the business.

“We are excited to bring our distinct fusion pizzas to even more locations,” owner Tejinder Singh said in a news release. “Tandoori Pizza has always been about elevating the pizza experience, and we can’t wait for customers to try our iconic flavors at these new spots.”

A Punjabi language interview on PTC News USA in March 2024 with the team at the Clovis Tandoori Pizza location includes Jaspal Singh, Parkash Deep Singh and Amrit Singh as store management.

The business hopes to open its first Fresno restaurant, located at 3692 W. Shaw Ave., this quarter. A date for the store to open has yet to be announced.

The location is the former Marisco’s Colima restaurant, a family owned chain established in 2001 with a half-dozen locations, according to its website. The location at 3692 W. Shaw AVe. has been closed since last year.

Fresno’s fusion pizza trend is growing, with several local pizza restaurants offering Indian-inspired options.

The brand also hopes to continue expanding throughout the country this year, with new locations coming to Northern and Southern California and Philadelphia. Last year, the chain saw its first location open in Philadelphia, and one in New York.
