Wings Advocacy Fresno, a new nonprofit that donates home furnishings to families, veterans and individuals, will be hosting a ribbon cutting to mark the grand opening of its new warehouse.
Wings volunteers operate a furniture bank in West Fresno that delivers donated home furnishing, new mattresses and pillows to recently housed families, such as victims of domestic violence.
Founded in 2014, Wings volunteers work closely with local social service agencies that forward qualified referrals for as many as seven households a week. At the Sept. 22 grand opening, Wings expects to announce assisting its 600th client after only 18 months of operations.
In addition to individuals donating gently used home furnishing, sponsors such as Educational Employees Credit Union and Wells Fargo have contributed grants, and Lowes has provided in-kind support.
Monetary donations are used to purchase mattresses — an expense of up to $4,000 per month.
The Wings Advocacy Fresno Warehouse Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Celebration takes place Sept. 22 at 2 p.m., with a ribbon cutting at 2:30 p.m. It is located at 4323 N. Selland Ave. #105.
