Fresno Filmworks will present the 12th annual Fresno Film Festival Nov. 11-13 at the historic Tower Theatre.

The festival opens Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. with “The Music of Strangers,” a film based on the journey of Chinese American cello prodigy Yo-Yo Ma.

Films showing on Nov. 12 include a new adaptation of “Heidi,” a film based on best-selling novel, “A Man Called Ove,” and the Sundance Award-winning Bedouin family drama, “Sand Storm.” The final film of the day, “The Carer,” will conclude with a Q&A session with director Janos Edelenyi.

Films showing on Nov. 13 include “The Olive Tree,” “Speed Sisters,” and “Neruda.” The latter will be followed by a special appearance by US poet laureate Juan Felipe Herrera.

This year’s festival welcomes 42 community sponsors including The Fresno Bee, Jewel FM 99.3, 90.7 KFSR Radio, Radio Billingue, Stella Artois, Univision Fresno, Valley PBS, and Paul E. Pierce and Patience Milrod.

Festival passes are $50 and tickets for individual programs cost $10 general admission and $8 for students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased online or at the Tower Theatre box office.
