Dr. Vijay Balasubramania announced on Monday the opening of the Valley Advanced Lung Diseases Institute (VALDI) in Fresno, focusing on the care of those with pulmonary hypertension, interstitial lung disease and many other lung ailments.
VALDI was formed after Balasubramania, also known as Dr. Bala, completed his academic tenure as professor of medicine for UCSF Fresno.
“VALDI complements the excellent pulmonary and subspecialty care provided throughout the region,” said Dr. Bala, medical director. “Our focus is on patients with complex pulmonary vascular, restrictive and obstructive conditions.”
The practice is located at 1348 W. Herndon Ave., Suite 101.
VALDI is the first of its kind, serving as a center for advanced pulmonary care in the Central Valley, according to a news release. Patients will benefit from Balasubramania’s clinical expertise and a network of specialists, practitioners and academics who will work collaboratively with patients and their support systems in an effort to develop treatment plans.
Balasubramania is a board certified pulmonologist specializing in advanced lung disease, as well as a nationally renowned clinician, scholar and lecturer. His work has led to several distinguished recognitions and appointments including Pulmonary Vascular Disease Network, CHEST Section Chair.
While at UCSF Fresno, Balasubramania established the Valley’s first Pulmonary Hypertension Program, which under his leadership received national recognition and accreditation during his tenure.
Balasubramania’s multidisciplinary approach provides the Valley with access to unique and individualized outpatient therapies, as well as coordination of advanced treatments throughout the progression of pulmonary disease, according to the release.
