Travelers to Fresno County spent big in 2024, doling out $1.48 billion, increasing the annual travel spending by almost 3%, according to Visit Fresno County, the county’s tourism promotion agency.

According to the bureau, travel expenses eclipsed 2023 marks by 2.9%, according to Visit California’s economic impact research, which was released in celebration of National Tourism Week and California Tourism Month.

Dean Runyan Associates’ Economic Impact of Travel report said visitors generated $53.7 million in Fresno County tax revenue in 2024, up 2.4% from the previous year. Spending increased in the food service, entertainment and airline industries, with the Fresno-Yosemite Airport experiencing another year of record passenger volume with over 2.6 million flyers — a 9% increase.

Travel and tourism-related employment also saw growth in 2024, totalling over 17,000 jobs — a growth of 2.3%.

“It’s great to highlight the impact tourism has on local economies and the community,” said Visit Fresno County President and CEO Lisa Oliviera. “Our team has a strong pride in Fresno and Clovis, and it’s wonderful to see visitors and locals share more of that pride with us in 2024.”

Visit Fresno County brought 55 events to Fresno and Clovis, totaling more than 30,374 hotel bookings, generating an estimated $38.5 million.
