The Fresno County Department of Public Health (FCDPH) is raising awareness about safe infant sleep during Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Awareness Month in October and is inviting county residents to participate in the #SafeSleepSnap photo activity.

Fresno County residents can participate by posting a photo on social media of a baby (up to 12 months of age) in a safe sleep environment. Residents are asked to use the #SafeSleepSnap hashtag, so everyone can see the pictures of babies in a sleep environment.

“The sudden, unexpected death of a healthy infant during sleep is an unbearable tragedy,” said Dr. Ken Bird Fresno County deputy health officer. “Join us in sharing ways to ensure a safe sleeping environment to help reduce the risk of such tragedy.”

According to a FCDPH press release, creativity, humor and captions are encouraged in the photos. The department will post photos on the Healthy Fresno County Facebook page throughout October.
