Fresno City Council Vice President Annalisa Perea teamed up with a local business to host her district’s first tamale drive.
Perea and a team of volunteers distributed more than 2,000 tamales to 200 families from Roeding Elementary School on Dec. 3.
The event was made possible through a partnership with Casa De Tamales, which Liz Sanchez started in 2010, inspired by her family’s tamale-making tradition. Sanchez operates CDT Cocina at 805 Olive Avenue in Fresno’s Tower District.
The tamale distribution was open to families from Roeding Elementary School on a first-come, first-served basis.
