With 65 new events, record breaking attendance and the largest gross box office sales that the Selland Arena and Saroyan Theatre have seen “in a long time,” officials at the Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center (FCEC) are calling the current year the facility’s “best ever.”

Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center, which is owned by the City of Fresno and managed by SMG, includes Selland Arena, Saroyan Theatre, Fresno Convention Center and Valdez Hall.

Bill Overfelt, general manager of the FCEC, said the SMG sales staff “has done an excellent job during 2016 by putting a substantial amount of profitable new business on the FCEC books for future years.”

Showcased earlier this year at the FCEC were shows including Dancing with the Stars, John Mellencamp, Broadway’s Book of Mormon, Judas Priest , Riverdance, Shen Yun Performing Arts and Disney on Ice’s Frozen.

In addition to ticketed events, the Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center has contracted six large conventions to be held in Fresno, some through 2020. These events include the Future Farmers of America Convention, CA USA Wrestling Championships, 98th American Legion Convention, Order of the Rainbow Girls Grand Convention and Vision Global Convention.

Beyond tickets and conventions, the Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center is still busy booking entertainment business with multi event contracts with ICON Entertainment Inc. and Hyphy Music Inc. These two large and local promoters continue to bring popular Latin-themed and comedy events to the Downtown area.
