On Friday the Zimmerman Boys & Girls Club in Fresno hosted a special basketball tournament bringing its young members together for a chance to compete against one another and some Fresno businesses.
The following businesses fielded teams that were blended with Boys & Girls Club members:
— Planet Fitness (both Merced and Fresno)
— Coca Cola
— UPS
— the Fresno Probation Department
— Buffalo Wild Wings
— Foot Locker
— US Auto Force
— CarMax
— Boys & Girls Club staff
San Joaquin Memorial Volunteers/Wildcats Elite Program (AA Team) toppled Team Coca-Cola in the finals, propelling the AA Team to this year’s championship.
“We are grateful to bring some of our top community partners to join us at our annual March Madness event,” said Sandra Dee Chaney, director of community relations and special events for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County. “This event gives basketball lovers a chance to show their skills, ignites excitement for the sport in our younger members, and promotes healthy lifestyles.”
Chaney said Friday that teams were still signing up almost until tip off, with a total of 11 teams competing for this year’s title.
“It also gives us the opportunity to show our community partners a first-hand experience of the power of the Clubs,” Chaney said.
