The Fresno Council of Governments has launched a new mini grant program for nonprofit and community-based organizations to help boost outreach for upcoming Measure C renewal community workshops.

Applicants, including grassroots organizations, churches, schools and other community groups in Fresno County, can apply to receive funding to help raise awareness, promote education and drive participation in Measure C workshops. Outreach must remain neutral and focus on informing residents about workshops, according to a news release.

Outreach is not intended to influence opinions on Measure C renewal.

Grant tiers include in-person outreach and flier distribution at $45 per hour (capped at 800 hours), digital outreach at $135 per workshop promoted (up to 15 total), and kids’ table sponsorships at $1,300.

Applications can be submitted at the Measure C website. Applicants must provide proof of 501(c)(3) status and a W-9 tax form.

Measure C Community Workshops, which are hosted by the Council of Governments throughout the county in September, will offer residents the opportunity to learn more about past transportation investments, as well as share feedback on future priorities.

Each workshop will feature a dinner, refreshments, language interpretation and activities for children.

Measure C was last renewed in 2006. Its 20-year term will expire in 2027 pending voter approval for renewal. Measure C funds — an estimated $2.1 billion has been generated locally by Measure C since its adoption in 1986.

A 30-year extension of the tax was rejected by voters in 2022.
