A familiar name in Fresno will be heading a Valley alliance of businesses.

Former television journalist and Fresno City Councilmember Clint Olivier was appointed to become the new executive director for BizFed Central Valley, a group that advocates for businesses in the region. Olivier was a member of the city council for eight years before being termed out of office in January. Before that, he’d worked as an investigative reporter in Fresno and Bakersfield.

“I’m excited to join the BizFed team,” Olivier said in a statement “Whether as a journalist or as an elected official, I have spent nearly my entire adult life advocating for the Central Valley and its people. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with my neighbors to advance their interests, create jobs and build an even better economy.”

BizFed is an alliance of 56 associations representing 20,000 businesses, employing 300,000 people and is a franchise of BizFed Los Angeles, which started more than a decade ago and has continued to grow.
