Living River Speaker Series: Cultural History and Indigenous Traditions of the San Joaquin River with Ron Goode

The Living River Speaker Series is an opportunity to expand your knowledge about the San Joaquin River. In the inaugural series, expert presenters will explore topics relating to the history and future of water in the Central Valley. Grab dinner from the food truck on site, sip a beverage at cocktail hour, then enjoy the hour-long presentation held in the River Center Barn.

Indigenous peoples of the Central Valley and Sierra Foothills have preserved distinct understandings of the San Joaquin River ecosystem rooted in history, customs, and cultural experience These knowledge systems based on connection to the land and understanding of its fundamental importance possess invaluable knowledge of practices for sustainable management of natural resources. In this presentation we will explore the beauty and complexity of indigenous life and rich Native American history in the Central Valley as it relates to the San Joaquin River and the surrounding land.
