Fresno City Councilmember and Fresno City College economics instructor Nelson Esparza announced today that he will officially enter the 2026 California State Senate race, seeking to fill the seat of current District 14 Representative Anna Caballero.
Esparza begins his campaign with a list of endorsements from local leaders and organizations as well as $100,000 cash-on-hand, according to a news release.
Endorsements include Fresno City Councilmember Mike Karbassi; Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer; Jim Yovino, former Fresno County Superintendent of Schools; Ironworkers, Local 155; and Sheet Metal Workers, Local 104.
