Educational Employees Credit Union (EECU) announced Monday a special financial assistance package for members who are impacted by the federal government shutdown, offering immediate relief to those with pay disruptions, according to a news release.

The Fresno-based credit union will offer qualified federal employees the option to skip a loan payment and apply for an emergency, no-interest loan for up to 30 days up to $10,000, depending on verified federal income.

Early withdrawal penalties on share and IRA certificates will also be waived, so members can access funds right away.

“EECU is here to support our members during this challenging time,” said Elizabeth J. Dooley, EECU president and CEO. “We encourage any member impacted by the government shutdown to reach out to us directly so we can work together to find the right solution.”

EECU is also focusing on long-term financial health through free credit and debt guidance workshops and webinars provided in partnership with BALANCE.

More information on eligibility and assistance programs is available at myEECU.org.
