Mayor Jerry Dyer on Thursday announced that the City of Fresno has received its second round of infrastructure checks, part of a $250 million commitment from Gov. Gavin Newsom.
The disbursement of $100 million builds on the initial investment of $50 million in 2023. That joins $43.7 million from an infill infrastructure grant
The latest budget allocation, announced in June and earmarked for revitalization and infrastructure projects in Downtown Fresno and Chinatown, is the largest investment ever made in the city’s urban core.
“This historic funding supports transformative public infrastructure projects in Downtown Fresno and Chinatown, laying the foundation for a more vibrant Fresno — because great cities have great downtowns,” Dyer wrote on Facebook on Thursday.
Earlier this year, Dyer noted that the funding arrived a year earlier than expected, having been added to the budget after speaking with California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
“Thank you, Governor Gavin Newsom and all of our stakeholders for investing in Fresno’s future. These funds will be leveraged to ensure a lasting impact for generations to come,” Dyer added in the post.
