The Fresno Athletic Hall of Fame has announced its 2026 class Wednesday, headlined by former NFL quarterback Derek Carr.

In addition to the four-time Pro Bowler, the 67th class will include Ruth Barcus, Tom Casanova, Denis and Teresa Roth, Bill Tatham and the 1958 Coalinga College Baseball Team.

Before his decade-plus NFL career with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders (2014-22) and the New Orleans Saints (2023-24), Carr starred at Fresno State as the starting quarterback from 2011-2013. After his final season, when he helped lead Fresno State to an 11-2 record in 2013, Carr was named as the Sammy Baugh Award winner as college football’s best quarterback.

Barcus, a Kerman native, was a sailor who won a national title in 1973 in Seattle. She was one of the prominent figures in the San Juan 21 division over a three decade period, where she won more championships than anyone.

Casanova was a football coach who spent 28 seasons at Caruthers High School before retiring in 2014. During his nearly three decade tenure he totaled 203 wins, the second most of high school coaches in Fresno County behind Tim Simons.

The husband and wife duo of Teresa and Denis joined the racing world in the early 1990s when they started a sprint car team in 1992. Six years later, the two won the Knoxville Nationals, the most coveted trophy in sprint car racing. They are still active and are in the top five for winningest owners in the World of Outlaws sprint car series. The Roths were inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 2022.

Tatham was the founder of Copper River Country Club and was part of several national sports franchises. The late Tatham purchased the World Football League’s Portland Thunder in 1974, then founded the USFL’s Oklahoma Outlaws. Most notably, he was part of the group that owned the NBA’s New Orleans Jazz franchise.

The 1958 Coalinga College baseball team is this year’s team inductee. They became the first Fresno County community college to ever win a state championship. The team was led by LeRoy Gregory, who eventually pitched in 18 innings in MLB for the Chicago Cubs in 1964.

They will all be enshrined at the Fresno Convention Center’s Valdez Hall on Nov. 5.
