Clovis-based Blair, Church & Flynn Consulting Engineers has officially launched a sports design team aimed at creating high-performance athletic facilities with help from former athletes, including two of the Central Valley’s most recognizable names.

The firm announced a collaboration with former NFL players David and Derek Carr, who will serve as design partners. The brothers will contribute athlete-focused input to help shape facilities that enhance performance, safety and community impact.

The partnership is one of several for the Carr brothers that have come together following Derek’s retirement this spring.

“We believe unforgettable sports experiences are created by those who truly know the game,” said Dave Mowry, Blair, Church & Flynn president and CEO. “Our team of former athletes has proven this, channeling their on-field expertise into spaces that not only perform well but inspire. Taking this commitment further, we’re thrilled to welcome David and Derek Carr as collaborators to our team.”

David said the partnership aligns with the brothers’ mission to support communities through athletics.

“Derek and I are thrilled to partner with the talented team at Blair, Church & Flynn,” he said. “Their commitment to creating venues that enhance communities and athletes’ abilities aligns perfectly with our vision.”

Derek added that he hopes the team’s work will benefit younger athletes.

“We’re honored to be part of a team committed to developing facilities that enrich schools and communities,” he said. “We’re especially passionate about projects that give young people the opportunity to grow and discover their talents.”

The sports design team blends landscape architects, engineers and designers who played at the collegiate level.

“With this firsthand experience, they’re able to design athletic facilities that empower athletes, energize coaches and teams, and immerse fans in unforgettable moments, delivering the ultimate sports experience for everyone,” the news release states.

Blair, Church & Flynn has designed athletic environments for high schools, colleges and public agencies. The new team adds what leaders call a competitive edge.

In their decades of work, Blair, Church & Flynn has worked on several athletic projects across California, including several for Clovis Unified at Clovis North, Buchanan and Clovis East high schools. They also worked on the site design for the Aquatics Center at Fresno State.

“We’re creating spaces where athletes thrive, communities can gather, and champions are made,” said Paige Noga, vice president and civil engineer at Blair, Church & Flynn.

Blair, Church & Flynn was founded in 1958 and is a Native American-owned consulting firm with six offices across the Western U.S.
