A leading Central Valley architectural firm has announced a change in leadership.

Darden Architects of Fresno has announced its fifth generation of management with Robert Petithomme transitioning to the role of principal emeritus.

Over the last five years, Petithomme has served as managing principal, guiding the firm through “the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, focusing on scheduling, efficiency and cultivating strong client relationships has been instrumental in our continued success,” according to an announcement on social media.

As Pettihomme transitions to his new role, Antonio Avila has been promoted to managing principal. Avila has been with Darden Architects for 32 years, and has a total of the 34 years in the industry.

He is also the director of design for the firm.

The firm was founded by Edwin S. Darden Sr. in 1959, first conducting business as Nargis & Darden Architects, later incorporated as Edwin S. Darden Associates and finally Darden Architects.

Their services include architectural design, educational facility, utilization of design, health care planning, construction cost estimating, interior design, graphic design and more.

Some of the firms projects include Matilda Torres High School in Madera, Madera Community College, the Reedley College Math + Science Building, the Cancer Treatment Center Addition/Renovation at Sierra View Medical Center (SVMC) in Porterville, and the Fresno Yosemite International Airport parking ticket structure.
