A company with an innovative approach to commercial storage is offering flexible warehouse space for rent in Fresno.

City of Industry-based Cubework purchased an 80,000 square-foot property in Downtown Fresno at 1931 G. St., transforming it into shared warehouse space in the WeWork coworking style.

Tenants schedule time for loading docks and rent out storage space for their businesses.

“If you just need 300 square feet and a loading dock and you only want to do it for two months, that’s what we aim for,” said David Zartman — director of editorial and marketing with Cubework.

Companies range from glass importation, light fixtures, automotive companies as well as a gift card and stationery company.

People can lease 200 square feet all the way up to 50,000 square feet, Zartman said.

There are common spaces for kitchens and break rooms, free coffee and an espresso machine. The company also provides forklifts and pallet jacks for rent. Leases range from a couple of months to longer.

“The point is we try to include these amenities so the licensee can focus on operations,” Zartman said.

The now-CEO of Cubework, James Lin, purchased the three-acre lot near the former Fresno Bee facility before Cubework was incorporated. The LLC attributed to Lin purchased it from Mascot LLC in 2016 for $2.35 million, according to Fresno County tax records. Cubework was incorporated in 2018.

Built in 1970, according to LoopNet, the building has nine loading docks in the front and a loading ramp in the rear.

Cubework has been expanding its national footprint with some unique usages. Zartman said they have been looking into other ways to utilize space such as paintball fields or ghost kitchens. The Fresno location provides office space in addition to warehouse space. The company has 55 locations in the U.S. according to their website, with another 17 coming online. There are also two locations in China and a location in Vancouver, Canada, coming soon.
