Christmas came early this year for pediatric patients at Community Regional Medical Center, courtesy of the “Founders Club.”
Founders Club members brought books, toys, board games and more for children who are spending the holidays in the hospital and otherwise might not get to experience the holidays at home.
“It means the world to have extra toys and gifts. Our patients and families are going through some of the toughest times in our hospital and the littlest things bring joy to them during these tough times. Every single consideration and gift goes miles beyond what you might imagine,” said Danielle Stapf, one of Community’s child life specialists. “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Our patients and families are so appreciative of these gifts.”
Some of the gifts donated will go to the pediatric playroom and the hospital’s pediatric ICU for the hospital to reuse for patients and families that come and go from the hospital.
“That is a huge impact down the road as well so that we can keep providing normalcy and cheer during these really difficult times,” said Stapf.
The Founders Club is a group of women volunteers that fundraises in support of the Bob Smittcamp Family Neuroscience Institute and volunteers in service that benefits patients of Community Regional Medical Center.
“Kids during the holidays don’t get to see their friends and family as often as they want so we want to make them feel at home and happy and just spread some joy,” said Kimberly Bedrosian, Founders Club member.
Through philanthropy, the Founders Club aims to make a difference in the lives of Community’s patients, their families and the health care heroes who care for them. Members give of their resources, time and talents to support the hospital and its mission to provide the highest level of care.
