A Clovis-based civil engineering firm is expanding its footprint in the Western U.S.

Provost & Pritchard Consulting Group recently opened new offices in Boise, Idaho — the country’s fifth-fastest-growing city from 2022-2023.

It is the first official location outside of California for the firm founded in 1968.

Provost & Pritchard Consulting Group’s services include civil engineering, agricultural solutions, water resources management, environmental consulting, structural engineering, roof consulting, biological studies, construction management and more.

Ronald Samuelian, president and CEO at Provost & Pritchard, said the expansion into Idaho was initiated by staff that were seeking to relocate into the state — staff that were good drivers of generating work and opportunity for the firm.

“We see continued growth opportunities in Idaho,” Samuelian said. “It’s a big, developing market.”

Provost established a business presence in Idaho nearly two years ago. This first official location covers 1,850 square feet.

Samuelian said the firm has grown its presence there to the point they needed a new office.

Some staff relocated to work at the Boise office, but additional staff were hired as well.

Samuelian said Idaho has been a growing market for a while, with many California transplants making the move.

Provost & Pritchard has nine different offices in California, with the Idaho office being the first outside of the Golden State. They have about 280 employees in total.

Samuelian said the team is still learning how to navigate the differences between operating a business in California and Idaho.

“Idaho is a very business friendly environment,” Samuelian. “For our clients, it’s definitely a different regulatory environment in Idaho compared to here.”

The firm is exploring other opportunities and locations in the west to continue to expand, with a focus on California.
